Hi
I am currently starting my second year of medical school in the university of deberecen in hungary. I am also a US citizen but I have never studied in the us. My plan was to finish 3 years of medical school in debrecen and then try to transfer to a US med school and by that ,save a year instead of the regular US med student whom has to do 4 years collage and another 4 years of med school. I don't really know how to go about doing such a thing and if it is really possible. I would appreciate any advice in the matter.

The other opption I have is to finish 6 years in debrecen and then do the residency in the US but I would really like a US degree and I am also kind of concerned as to how I would be accepted in the US with a degree from debrecen....
what do you think? 😕

Hmmm... I'm a little confused. Do you have an undergraduate degree, which is typically a prerequisite for entry to med school in the US? My understanding is that med schools aren't typically happy about giving advanced standing, i.e. knocking a year off your course. The other aspect to consider is financial, the cost of going through university in the US is such that many people are paying a second $500/month mortgage for the rest of their life (i.e the cost of their schooling.) Depending on the speciality you want to go in to unless it's extremely competitive I would imagine that you're better off finishing medical school in the Hungary and then doing residency in the States, but that's just my persoanl opinion not knowing the complexities of your situation.
