I'm a third year Bio student having taken only 1 psych class, intro to psych honors, but i want to get a phd or psyd in clinical or counseling psychology after I get my bachelord's degree in bio. I'm having a hard time looking up schools that list requirements on what i would need to get in. If anyone could enlighten me please let me know.

as someone who was a neuropsych major (but stayed more towards the neuro side) i'm finding requirements for clinical phd programs to be prohibitive. i suggest taking at least taking abnormal, social and experimental. i didn't and now i have to take them while working (no fun!). good luck.

oh and statistics, that's a definite must.

It should say what prerequisites there are on each program's admissions/application section of their website. If not, I would contact the programs individually to find out the requirements.

A good place to start would be to buy or borrow a copy of the Insider's Guide to Graduate Programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. It walks you through the differences between the degrees, discusses how the application process works and also lists key stats and requirements by school.

i love the insider's guide, but it's been off on requirements for a number of the schools i'm applying to, i'd check the websites.

Good point.

It is a great place to start, particularly for someone at the very beginning of the process, but always verify directly with the school, either through the website or by phone. I mention the phone option because I have run into instances where the material on the website conflicts with the information the school has mailed me...
