How likely are DPT programs to do this if academic performance decreases in the last semester. I graduate May 10th and start my program the 22nd. With such a small amount of time and such nice weather i'm tempted to do minimal studying for finals and enjoy these last 10 days with my friends. My acceptance letter states "assuming satisfactory completion of bachelors degree and prerequisites". My undergrad program requires C minimums to graduate. If I enjoy this week and potentially get C's should I be okay? Has anyone had any experience or heard of anything?

PS I think if I don't study another minute i'll still get B's but idk if its worth the risk

at this point you just need to meet the minimum requirements

Most schools tell you when accepted that it is contingent on completion of whatever it is you have left to complete. I am still taking physics 2 and my entry in to my program is contingent that I have at least a C (as stated on my acceptance letter), another program requirement is a B. If the only thing you need is your actual bachelor's degree and not any specific pre rec then you are in the clear, but it wouldn't hurt to ask the school to see if specific grades are required or look on your acceptance letter

As long as you pass your courses with C's, it seems pretty unlikely that the program would rescind your acceptance.

As to whether or not this kind of thought process will fly in PT school, I find myself having a slightly different opinion than the others on this board.

Finals during PT school are an order of magnitude more challenging than what I remember finals to have been when I was an undergrad (which was some time ago…). There is more content in each class and many classes have both a written and a practical exam, each of which require their own unique approach to studying. Throw in a couple end-of-semester group projects, and finals quickly become a three-week rolling sh*tstorm. Heaven help you if you end up having to retake a practical.

If I gave 100% each day during finals, I suspect that I would crash and burn. I am constantly updating a spreadsheet with my grades to consider how much I really want to invest in studying for a given exam. If I need to make an 88 to make an A in a 5 hour class, I'll bunker down and spend 4 hours at the library. If I need a 98 to make an A and a 40 to make a B in a 3 hour class, I might spend a couple hours going over powerpoints with my wife and a bottle of wine. And there was a final where my B was so sealed in that I only studied for half an hour at my desk before the exam was handed out.

Marronew, It sounds like you're running the numbers, and it sounds like you're in a good position. No one is getting an offer rescinded for finishing with B's. I think that budgeting time and emotional energy at finals is an important skill that has helped me so far in school. Best of luck to you.

I completely agree with the above statement....play the numbers game and just PASS. Passing is the name of the game in PT school. B`s get degrees.

That's how I roll. You know what they call the person with the lowest acceptable GPA and board pass rate? PT.

I remember that line from Fast and the Furious when Vin Diesel says, "whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning." To paraphrase him, passing is passing. C=DPT.
