Research and weightage in residency

I am new to this forum and just wanted to ask if any value is given to the research in some other field than medicine while applying for residency. I have done about a decade of research in some other science field and have few publications also and was wondering if they can be of any use while applying for residency. Thanks

Of course pubs of any kinds are useful. I hope you are a PhD. Which will go farther than pubs.
