Hi everyone,

I'm a current psychology student and I know that I would eventually like to go into graduate school for School Psychology but I would like to spend some time getting involved in research as I didn't get much during my time as an undergrad. Thus, I am currently looking for research assistant jobs for the following year. I am particularly focusing on opportunities that would allow me to work with children and adolescents. Does anyone know of any resources (besides indeed, etc) where I might be able to start this search? What other advice do you guys have for someone just starting out in the area? Thanks for reading and I appreciate any advice you have!

I found my RA position through my university -- they are constantly posting openings in different psych labs. I go to a very large university though, so it may not be the same everywhere.

Thanks Goobernut! I go to a pretty large uni in NYC as well. I'm just pretty nervous in approaching these professors or anyone for that manner given my minimal experience. Working on that though!

I don't know what your university is like, but at mine there are flyers for RA openings posted in the psychology building all the time. Maybe you can look there if they have a bulletin board or ask in the psych department's office. My RA position didn't require any previous experience, only a good GPA and completion of a Psych Research class. I don't know if this is the case with your school. You should find out. Also, if you have a psychology club or a Psi Chi chapter, you can ask these people as well. Good luck! 🙂

The best way to find a RA position is to talk with professors who do research.
