hey, will research experience make a person better candidate because i was thinking about working with a proffessor on viruses and how it infects host cells and i ll devote a good deal of time if i decide to do it. So i was wondering if adcoms will view this as a big positive aspect for the applicant.

Research doesn't matter that much, but it could have an impact. It's definitely a plus to your app, but it won't be a back breaker.

it depends. how involved will you be with the research? will you publish your findings in a high impact peer-reviewed journal or will you be cleaning glassware? the more significant your role, the more significant it will be to adcoms.
