Research for Non-Science Majors

So my major is non-science but I am looking for research experience. Would It be okay if the the research was not scientifically based. Did any non-science majors go this way? Or did any of you non science majors find a way to get in on scientific research? How do I go about doing this? Many of the scientific research opportunities would require a science major.

I was a non-science major (Art History) and wrote a thesis which I researched for 4 months and then defended. Does your major require a thesis?

Also, I got a summer research job doing research for a historically based tv show a few summers ago, so I put that under research too.
