What research experiences would anyone suggest are available to pre-MS1 for the summer following medical school? Also, what would be an example concept of a good research project in the field, clinical or basic? Ex. structural biology employs EM or x-ray crystallography to determine protein structures. What would most radiology labs be interested in?

The research you just quoted, while I'm sure being worthwhile, isn't really directly related to radiology and wouldn't be considered radiology research.

Are you referring to the summer before starting med school (your post says the summer following)? If so, you need to go enjoy your time off and not think about anything even remotely related to medicine. Any research that you get done during that period of time (2-3 months) isn't likely to result in anything substantial as good basic science projects often take at least a year to get going.

Enjoy the fact that you've gained admission and relax before M1 year starts.

I didn't mean for that to be related to radiology, I was just using it as an example. I appreciate the advice.

Most radiology research that med students participate in is clinical in nature (chart reviews and the like). That being said, once again, performing research in the few months before you start med school is a bad idea in general. It's not likely to boost your application for residency in any way. Your first year is going to be very busy, and you would be much better off relaxing and having fun so that you can start M1 year ready to bust your arse. Research in radiology isn't as important as it is in other similarly competitive fields. I don't mean for this to sound preachy. I just want you to be informed and start med school on the right note. Good luck!

you should spend ure summer drinkin coronas and slammin honiessssssssssss

seriously, don't do any research, enjoy ureself. do ure damage when u get to med school. be a killa in all ure classes, destroy step 1, honor ure clinicals, be AOA, and u'll be on ure way to interviewing at MIR.

for now, concentrate on bruski's and b*tches
