Hey guys I have a problem.

SO i was working in a lab for about 15 hrs/week for 3-4 months and was on the way towards getting my name on the paper when it got published...but a problem arose and the project was shut down.

SO basically I wasted all that time. But my question is....My PI wants to hook me up with another project to work on but needs an exhaustive list of the lab techniques I know.

Needless to say I know none. WHich lab techniques can I tell him I know that would be useful and that I could learn on my own? (BTW it is a bench research ortho lab)

You worked 15 hours a week for 4 months and don't know any lab techniques?

I've never heard of someone learning lab skills on their own. Have you got a PCR machine at home, perchance?

I mainly did stuff on a computer analyzing scans that I had taken with CT machine.

🙁

Saying you know a protocol and not being able to do it when you need to == wasted research money == big problem down the road. Be honest and tell him you'll learn.
