Hi,

I have a quesiton about undregrad research. Is research in autoimmunity related to dental research in any way? I am interested in doing research as a dentist and was wondering if this kind of work would directly help with my future as a researcher (dental)? I do things like microarrays for auto-antigen discovery and RT-PCR. Is any of those used in dental research???

I think the most important thing about doing undergrad research is you're developing critical thinking skills. I don't think it matters what it is in. Of course it would help if you didn't have to learn a bunch of new techniques.....plus, I bet you can pick up the new skills pretty quick.

when you are accepted to a school, start calling the researchers and finding out.
