So, I did about 3 years of research and I want to have a paragraph about it in my personal statement, but it didn't have anything to do with dentistry. Do you think I should talk about the specific work I did in the lab or talk about what I learned from it? If I write about my specific work, I think it might be really unrelated to the rest of my personal statement. If I write about what I learned, it will probably sound very generic. Did anyone else write about their research experience?

I also did a lot of research in undergrad and none of it was related to dentistry. I learned so much from it that is transferrable to my future in dentistry. You become proficient with working with your hands (depending on your research) and learn to be independent and how to think on your toes. I didn't dedicate a whole paragraph to writing about it, but I talked about it amongst other things.

If you don't talk about what you learned what's the point of including it?
