I am a non-traditional student transitioning from a research-focused graduate program to physical therapy. During my time in graduate school, I accumulated several publications, presented posters at conferences, and gave oral presentations in seminars. I would like to demonstrate these accomplishments in my PTCAS application but am unsure where they would fit. Any suggestions?

I e-mailed PTCAS about this very thing - the question I sent and response I received is below in italics.

Hi PTCAS Help,

I have presented a few conferences and been an author on a research paper. I was unable to find a place on the PTCAS application to include these citations, as they don't seem to either fit into 'Honors' or 'Extracurricular Activities'.

Do y'all have any recommendations on where to include presentations and publications?

Thanks,

Good afternoon,
Thank you for contacting PTCAS. No, we do not have a place for publications.
You can enter them into extracurricular if you would like, or you can send the
information to the schools directly.

I think the best option you have is to try and highlight this experience in essays and interviews. You might also be able to fit it somehow into employment depending on what your specific arrangement was.

I think best bet would be the extracurricular section because it's things you did outside of class unless you were getting paid for these presentations, than it would be the work section.

weave it into your personal statement and highlight them if the school does interviews.

I got a research grant as an undergrad and won a presentation so I included that in awards. I also got paid in the summers for my research so I put that under work and during the semester I took it for credit hours so I just wrote about it in my essay. Hope that helps some!
