I was looking for summer internships and research oppotunities on my school's website and I saw a "dental research intern" position. It is a unpaid position...so my question is does it count as doing actual research, or is it just a volunteer internship?

research is research. you don't have to be paid. I conducted research that resulted in an honors thesis, and my professor has decided to pay me to stay over the summer to work on the project. therefore, an unpaid position can turn into a paid position if the director thinks your worth it.
