Does Research/Lab imply research in a lab or other types of research as well (i.e. clinical research)? Thanks.

Research/Lab implies that it was just that, research. You can explain exactly what it was in the experience description box. Even AMCAS admits that the categories are pretty much arbitrary and they don't hold much meaning, so don't fret about it too. Pick what sounds right.
