Just curious, for the NYMC secondary, can I list my undergraduate research supervisor's letter under "UG SCIENCE" if it was a graded course where I received units? Or is it better to send it as an "extra" letter.

Thanks guys

I used my research as my science.

Also, I have an LOR from a physician...how do I add that on to the list. I already have three letters from Professor (2 sci, 1 non-sci)

just make sure your research counts as a 'hard science' (aka could be classified in BCPM). one of my science letters is from my pharmacology prof (class that you needed ochem and upper div bio to take) and they won't count it as a science letter. 🙁

WHAT? How is that NOT science?!?!?!? It's definitely not NON SCIENCE like english, history, anthropology, modern art, etc. All my engineering buddies (i'm talking like 30-40) all used engineering letters. Pharm is even taught in medical school!

What exactly did they say to you?

yea i was incredibly frustrated with that..
i got an email a month ago saying that the letter didn't count.. called and said I could send them a syllabus even if they liked, and they said to email them what i thought. so i emailed the course description, textbook title (a med school text!).. no response, so i figured everything was ok.
got an email last week that was just like 'your file is still not complete, you are missing letters'. called again and the woman said that since amcas does not classify it as either bio, chem, physics or math, it doesn't count.
so annoyed.
and graduated so i don't have contact with any of my BCPM profs (all classes i took like 2 years ago..)
i've been able to find my summer school stats prof from last year though so atleast i can have something to them. guess the pharm letter is just an extra now.
