Hello,

I am currently at UC Berkeley as a visiting scholar this summer.

I'm beginning a research project on the implementation of RFID in hospitals and its impacts on the medical professions. I have already made contact with several hospitals in Paris and have in mind to make a comparison with the US.

I should obtain a grant to make this comparison. I don’t have any contacts in American hospitals and wondered whether you might be able to help me on that. Moreover, I would like to share opinions, ideas about this hot topic (privacy issues...) with medical professionals 🙂

If you wish to have more details about my current work, I would be please to tell you more.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Sylvain Bureau

RFID = radio frequency idetification? or something else?😕

About RFID:

"radio frequency identification (RFID) on health care. RFID is a generic term for technologies that use radio waves to automatically identify people or objects. There are several methods of identification, but the most common is to store a serial number that identifies a person or object and perhaps other information on a microchip that is attached to an antenna. The antenna enables the chip to transmit identification information to a reader. The reader converts the radio waves reflected back from an RFID tag into digital information that can passed on to computers to make use of it." (Anonymous "Much ado about RFID and its affect on health care," Materials Management in Health Care (14:5), May 2005, p 29.)
