Hi guys.

First and foremost, if this is an improper location for this topic, feel free to move it, my dear moderators.

This is a research question. Are there any effective methods to extract 0-2 hr fruitfly embryos, rather that dissect each female individually to get her ovaries? I really need some help and perhaps you seasoned researchers can help in whatever way.

Exactly why I avoided applying to any labs that related to it, even remotely using it to model genes.

LP's thread kinda scares me to be honest, but I'm pretty sure I saw a protocol similar to this. I'll edit this post once I find it.

I echo the above, I do not miss drosophila work. I was my prof's first research student, so for a while he had me cleaning all of the tubes...50 tubes full of dead flies and fly diet, stuck in a freezer until there were enough for a load, autoclaved, and then washed by hand while still melty from the steam. Sometimes he'd throw in all of the extra dishes from the genetics labs he oversaw, so I had a load to do most weeks. It was...aromatic.
