I have been interested in health informatics and found a relevant research opportunity at a local college. Although it's an interdisciplinary research, it seems to be led by the school of nursing at the school. I know how some schools tend to look down on applicants coming from nursing backgrounds. I majored in engineering and I'm a nontrad, but I was wondering if participating in such project, and getting LOR from a professor at the school of nursing would be disadvantageous or not as strong of an addition to my application than say if I participated in a similar project but one that's driven by the school of medicine and medical faculty members. Thanks in advance.

I know at least some schools really like proof that you can work as a member of an interdisciplanary team of healthcare professionals. FIU for instance.

Research is great....as long as you enjoy the topic you're investigating. I'd choose the opportunity you find most interesting, as it will likely be the opportunity that you do best in, learn the most from, and, consequently, get the best letters from.
