I am filling out secondaries and as we all know, they usually ask more specific questions about your interests in THEIR program, etc.

Since I have done substantial research (more so than clinical experience although I have some) I tend to want to elaborate on wanting to take advantage of their various thesis/research options for the MD program, rather than mention clinically related attractions to their school.

Do you guys think that to focus mainly on research interests will not look as good as focusing on clinical stuff? My involvement in research was my most influential experience driving me to become a physician, which I talked about in my PS.

What are your opinions on this? 🙂

I think if you're interested in research, you should talk about your interest in research. Many schools pride themselves on their research programs, and I'm sure they'd be happy to hear that you're as psyched about their program as they are. I wouldn't disparage clinical medicine or say that you're specifically not interested in it, but it's fine to write your essay about the aspects that you're most interested in.
