Well inherently yes lol, 1/100 is smaller than 2/100. But it’s no big deal cuz there are like a quadrillion applicants

The answer to your question is yes. By definition, your experience will not be as unique, but uniqueness should not necessarily be the end goal (I concur with @Lucca). I chose my research position because it was the logical next step for me. My position allowed to me take on more responsibility in an activity that I enjoyed and that I could talk passionately about; this is what stands out in your application and during interviews. My position was fairly common for people from my undergrad. I had 4 friends in the same position that applied this cycle with varying success.

I think it would be more important to consider how your research experience fits into your application as a whole rather than how unique it may be considered. Your story makes you memorable, and a single research experience is just a small piece of that – don't lean too heavy on it.
