What are people doing for research. What organizations are people working for. Also, what are some good resources for people looking for research opportunities.

Thanks in advance,

Research isn't really that hard to get. my advice is to apply to internship Amgen, etc and local ones where you can continue in pass the end of programs. Are you in upper div? Even easier is just go into OH and ask. Is there an undergrad research program at your school? Check work study work at as a lab assistant then transition into research.

Working in a lab that does some stuff with neuron receptors. Mainly, we kill mice (we do not give them cancer, though; we are not that brutual); we also kill frogs. Yeah, that sums it up

hi livebythecreek,

What is your school like? Your in depends a bit on the kind of environment that you're in, as does the type of academic research that you'll have access to. If you're at a large research institution, I'd talk to the grad students. They'll often have good ideas about which labs are working on which project, and more importantly, which would provide a meaningful experience for an undergrad. After that, start emailing professors (or try to find them in person if you can!)

If you're at a smaller school, just go talk to your professors. They'll often be more than willing to help good students find research position.

The Amgen / biotech summer internships are a good route as well, but they're a bit tougher to get into if you don't have any experience to start with. You might also consider checking out REU programs (research experience for undergradutes I believe).
