I know these questions may have been answered a hundred times...and I read the stickies but didn't see any specific numbers.

I was wondering if someone could tell me what step 1 score is average for those who matched into a combined path program. I understand this will vary depending on the competitiveness of the program. So a range would be nice for both high tier and middle tier programs. I am a MS1 and haven't really heard anything about a good score for path. any other advice as far as research, publications, grades would be greatly appreciated. It would also be awesome if people could post scores specific to each program. thanks for the help and I really hope this isn't repetitive...but I am sure some first year students interested in path would like reading some of this advice.

by combined path i assume you mean AP and CP (which is done by about 90% of us).

first advice: focus on learning the material, rather than trying to attain particular numbers for residency. if you do the former, the latter will take care of itself. that said, i think 230s opens the door to most mid to upper tier programs (although you'll certainly find people at strong programs with scores in the 220s, probably even some in the 210s). 240s and up will be very strong. grades, especially in MS2 path course, are also important i think. you won't find program-specific scores. research is important if you want to go to a research-intense program.

Thanks for the replies. I am very focused on my coursework. I am in the top ten percent of my class right now but just wanted some ballpark numbers for boards. I have started looking for some research experience...it sounds like for now just making the grades and doing well on boards next year are the priorities. thanks again for the help.

Can any of the current D.O. path resident chyme in about comlex scores, doing a ACGME path residency as a D.O., any other issues about a D.O. matching in path. thanks for the help again...or a link to thread discussing this would be helpful so i can just read that instead of someone having to repeat themselves.
