hi friends,
iam new to this forum....just found it today 🙄
nice to see that there is a forum for psychiatry aspirants....something i have missed at other forums. 🙂
i have a couple of questions.
1) i graduated in 2001,came to the US in 2003 and have scores of 90/83/taken cs. the problem is i dont have USCE and so no US LOR's.i have always wanted to do psych, have good language and communication skills and i have good lor's from india(1 from psychiatrist) but can that make up for a gap in cv between 2003-2005 and also no USCE?
2)anyone know of hospitals in wisconsin/illinois for psych observerships?
3)what r the special requirements for applying to illinois and texas?
ANY tips or suggestions r welcome and appreciated.thanks in advance and GL to all those on this long journey :luck:

hey guys,
hope all of u r enjoying the long weekend 🙂
if anyone has any answers to my queries, please do give ur valuable input...thanks and have a happy day!

1. You'll need US letters of rec to be competitive. The system there is very different, and they'll want to see that you can thrive in this setting. This, or course, is obtained through US psych clerkships - which tails into your other questions.

2. I'm not from that area...not sure of observerships in Wisconsin/Illinois.

3. Not sure about requirements to apply to Illinois or Texas either. What specifically are you referring to? All residents in the majority of programs go through ERAS to apply to psych residency.

:luck:
