Residency availability for US undergrad -> Canadian med?

Hi all! So I know that Canadian residencies are only offered to permanent residents/citizens, but I was wondering if anyone can clarify what the match process would look like for a US undergrad who completes their studies at a Canadian med school. Is there still a bias against them compared to Canadian citizens? If so, to what extent?

You can't complete Canadian residency without being a Canadian citizen/PR as you mentioned in the beginning. Very few medical schools in Canada accept international students, UofT being a notable exception. Hence, if you complete medical schools in Canada, you are likely a Canadian citizen/PR and would not be disadvantaged at all when applying to Canadian residency.

Gotcha. So no bias between citizen vs PR, and no bias towards US undergrad so long as med school is Canadian. Thanks!
