This has probably been asked before but..is it common to find a D.O. in the ER? I am sure there are a few ER Residency Programs for DOs but how common are they?

In a majority of hospitals in Oklahoma, you will more often find a DO than an MD in the ER. There are several DO EM residencies in Oklahoma, but there are no MD residencies.
It is very common to find DO's in most major hospitals in the State of Texas, but it is difficult to find a majority due to the ratio of MD schools to DO schools. DO's are found in every MD residency in Texas.
It will vary from state to state, so I can only share my experience.
As a DO, you will have many opportunities, since most MD ER residencies will accept DO's. There are a large number of DO ER residencies as well.

Relative to the % of DOs out there I feel that it's not so hard trying to find DOs in EM. For what it's worth, the chief EM resident at the L1 trauma ctr I worked at over the summer was a DO. She attributed getting her position to the fact that she had to work harder in order to prove herself.
