Oh shucks, I was curious what the answer was. I figure either something generic like IM, or just skip residency and move straight from MD to industry.

Never heard of a health it residency. But in pharmacy there are pharmacy informatics residencies, where the informatics specialist optimizes the automation (acudose cabinets, med carousels). And maintains the emr (epic) and builds Medications into the system so doctors can order medications for their patients.
