Hi everyone, I just joined this forum today because I had a question about residency interviews.
I am currently a third year student at a US medical school, and thinking of going into Family medicine.
For those who required a visa for US residency (J1 or H1B); how did you bring up the issue during your interview?
Also, how did you ask the Program director if H1B is available at their program?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You bring it up by checking the "yes" box on ERAS where it asks if you need a visa.

I believe there's a second box to check for which type you want.

Agreed. There is specific question about this on your ERAS application. You can choose both J1 and H1b if you're OK with either, otherwise you can choose H1b only. Programs that don't offer H1b won't interview you.
