I have heard from some of my classmates applying to anesthesiology this year that some programs will pay for part of or all of the cost of travelling for the interview for their top applicants. Has anyone heard anything about this? I this true for anesthesiology? I have never heard of anything similar for any other field.

Thanks

I had a couple of hotels paid for (not for top applicants, but all interviewees), but I think travel reimbursements are a thing of the past.

kentucky. this is the only one that i know of that pays for applicants travel expenses. many many programs pay for the hotel but ky will also reimburse you up to 300 dollars for airfare or driving expenses. there is also a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel...and the hotel is a nice suite with a jacuzzi.

in general the more desirable the program (reputation, location) the less of a chance you have of getting reimbursed. I applied mostly west coast (about 5 years ago) and only got a couple of reimbursement offers from lower tier programs. The upper tier programs didnt offer squat.
