Does the location of your residency mean that that is the only location that you can work as a doctor in after residency? Can doctors choose any hospital to work in throughout the US?? If not does this mean that students that went to the Caribbeans for med school because they coudlnt get into a US school can only go to limited residency locations; thus, limited working locations? I'm just scared if your medical background is not as superior like Caribbean students, that you'll be stuck working in hospitals in undesired locations...

Wow, you're sort of all over the place there.

Going to a Caribbean medical school is mostly detrimental because it lowers the likelihood that you will get into a U.S. residency program of your choosing.

The location of your residency, assuming it's within the U.S., has zero implication regarding where you eventually end up practicing. That said, different states have different requirement to obtain a license to practice. Those differing requirements are best explored on a state-by-state basis, but, in general, you can practice wherever you'd like following residency.

Location of residency has nothing to do with where you end up practicing. As long as you have passed all three Board Steps and meet the requirements for license in the state that you desire, you can practice in any state that you hold an unrestricted license.

Yep, agree with the others.

I graduated from an Australian medical school.

Did my residency in Pennsylvania, my fellowship in New Jersey and will be practicing in Arizona. Although there are some states which restrict licensing to graduates of certain approved medical schools, you can practice anywhere you can obtain an unrestricted medical license.
