Programs are Family Medicine: Sorry for posting here but I get no replies in the Fam. Med. forum.
Quick advice here, 1. UT-Houston, 2. UIC-Advocate Christ, 3. Atlanta Medical Center?

Wildcards are: 4. Northwestern FM, 5. UTSW (Dallas), 6. Cook County-Loyola-Provident, 7. UPMC-Shadyside (pittsburgh).

Thanks in advance!

I think it is more of a location issue. Where do you want to live? Where do you have family? Where are you from? Do you enjoy urban nightlife? Do you like country or blues music? Rank where you will be happy. Did you try scutwork? Where is the Northwestern location? Evanston? Chicago gold coast. Is the Loyola location in Lincoln Park?

If you don't have a location preference then go with the location that runs the smoothest...has properly running computers, adequate staff, etc.

Well, based on reputation as a fam. med program and people's experiences there, good or bad, which is recommended? 1., 2., or 3.
Scutwork sometimes gives conflicting reviews so you don't know who to believe or it doesn't even have a review.
It's basically houston, chicago or atlanta. Any with thoughts please?

(northwestern is in evanston along with rotating in two other smaller hospitals.
loyola is in maywood, ill. but you spend most time in cook county and provident hosp.)

Its unlikely that there will not be conflicting "reviews" here as well, in particular regarding what the "best" place to live is (hint: it's none of the places you listed). Good luck.

rotated through amc and enjoyed it quite a bit. attendings were very knowledgable, good teachers. residents seemed happy. plus, family docs at amc rule the hospital--i'm talking on or above par with surgery or internal medicine. first year is almost all hospital work so you get good background in hospital medicine. clinic once or twice a week intern year. they video monitor your pt interactions and critique your skills. the clinic serves an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse population, too.

good luck. atlanta's a pretty nice place to live, too. lots o' stuff to do; quite diverse.
