Does anyone know of some other resources/websites besides FREIDA and Scutwork.com that I can use to find 1) resident reviews of different residency programs, and 2) amenities of the different programs/hospitals? Scutwork.com is great, but limited and sometimes outdated regarding programs in the midwest/anywhere not on the east or west coast. Thanks for your help.

Ok, nevermind.....I probably should have asked about scrub tops or dating your residents if I really wanted a reply..... 👍

I think Scutwork and FREIDA are the two main sites that everyone uses.

I did an MSN search and found this one as well, although it looks like they are just building their residency review page...

Maybe it's just the mood I'm in, but I thought this was hillarious, especially the little thumbs up. I wish someone would make a site somehow combining FREIDA and scutwork so that you could have all that info in one place. I think this is a great question, but sometimes people just don't have answers, ya know?

If you're interested in EM, this is a good site (someone should combine this with FREIDA and scutwork, too): http://www.saem.org/rescat/contents.htm. Maybe other professional organizations have similar web pages???

Trouble is...there just aren't very many sites with this information, hence the dearth of answers here.

good point......

it helped me! i just wish more residents would review their programs. maybe i'll post in all the residency forums and tell them to help us out 😛 ok, i dont have time for that. i just hate how all the programs i go to look up usually only have one or two reviews! i know im just getting one person's totally biased opinion . . .

Man, why didn't I think of this when I titled my "What makes the neurology shelf so tough" thread? Well, at least I got one solid reply but I will keep this in mind.

Thanks for the link to the AMSA site...interesting though, as many of the responses for my program are dead wrong...

we don't have 30 hours per week of conference (good God I can barely stand what we have)
we don't work > 120 hours per week (not anymore)
we don't have a night float system
call is less than q 3.5, more like q5 or even more on some rotations
since > 50% of our residents are now female, it would be hard to say that "female representation" is only "fair"
it is not "rare" that people don't spend time in the lab, although a lot do
the maternity-paternity leave is the standard 12 weeks - hardly a "poor" rating

It also sounds as if someone thinks the evironment is arrogant and unsupportive of IMGs; not the usual reaction especially since most say our students and residents are amongst the most friendly and two of our Chiefs are IMGs, I am and we have several Prelims who are (and I haven't heard them complain about their treatment)

At any rate, as with most ratings, since these are the ratings only of people who have interviewed somewhere rather than the average resident at that program, I'd take them with a grain of salt.

Hey, you're right Kimberli! I was looking at the reviews for my program and they are also way off base in many of the responses.

What I found funny was a negative comment about my program by one reviewer that the interns are "stuck" with the same resident for the entire month rotation while on a ward month. I thought that was pretty amusing because that's how almost every IM residency program in the country sets up inpatient rotations in order to maximize continuity, but my program happened to get a negative review for it. 😕
