Hi everyone,
This is actually my first post.I'd like to say though that i found many posts in the site very helpful and insightful,I hope this one will be too.
I'm thinking of applying to a canadian internal medicine residency program next year ,and i'm also about to get married at the end of this year.
I will have already finished 2 years of my residency at my local program, and will be applying as a first year.
I just wanted to know if there was any way i could find out the average number of oncalls for different places in canada, seeing as how i might have to take them into factor now.
Thanks in advance,
Thahlan

Sounds like he's just saying that he wants to know how much call he'll have to take at different Canadian residencies since now that he's married he thinks his spouse would prefer for him to be home rather than on call.

It's internal med.

Calls = lots

The differences between different programs will probably be superficial. Note that there is no 80 hour rule in Canada.

Also be aware that you must be a Canadian citizen/permanent resident to apply for Canadian residencies. If you have any post-grad training (and it sounds like you do) you are not eligible for the first round CaRMS match.

See carms.ca for details

Exactly.I cant imagine having to spend as much time as i did as an intern oncall.

Wai..Wha???Huh???

This post actually took information out of my brain.

Start over and try to explain WTF you're talking about.

1. Finished 2 years already.
2. Hate being oncall 7-10 times per month,Don't want it to put a strain on my marriage.

Then why would you want to be an intern again?

Finished 2 years in what? If you could be more vague in your posts, that would be really helpful.

Starting over in even the most cush IM residency on the planet will mean another 3 years of being on call 4-5x/month for at least 6 months a year.

If you are thinking about leaving an IM residency with 1 year to go, and starting another IM residency from scratch, you have bigger problems than the call schedule.
