Hey guys. I'm actually a non-US citizen on a student visa at an American medical school. I did a lot of research trying to find residency programs that sponsor visas for non-US citizens but it's very hard to find reliable information. So I decided to do this: I'm going to post the specialty into which I applied and a list of all the programs that offered me interviews (I matched at one of them). Hopefully others will add to this list so it can be used as a resource by future applicants. Lists like this one can be bought on the internet for ridiculous prices.

Citizenship: non-US citizen
Medical School: in the US (MD)
Visa I was looking for: H1-B or J1
Specialty: Emergency Medicine
# Programs Applied to: around 50

Interviews:
-University of Michigan - MI
-Indiana University - IN
-UCSF-Fresno - CA
-UCSD - CA
-UCLA-Olive View - CA
-USC - CA
-New York Pres (Columbia/Cornell) - NY
-Kings County/SUNY Downstate - NY
-North Shore University Hospital - NY
-AECOM - Jacobi/Montefiore - NY
-SUNY Stony Brook - NY
-Thomas Jefferson University - PA
-Yale - CT
-BIDMC-HAEMR - MA
-University of Massachusetts - MA
-Johns Hopkins - MD
-Louisiana State University-New Orleans - LA
-University of Virginia - VA
-University of Florida-Gainesville - FL
-Duke University - NC
-University of Nevada-Las Vegas - NV

Advice: Don't listen to what ANY one person says about visas or your chances of getting one. Do your own research. In my experience, most people know very little about it.

Thanks for doing this!!! I am MS1 but i guess i'lll be needing it in a few years. thanks again 👍

did any of the above gives H1? thanks!

Shouldn't all hospitals be okay with J-1s though? A list of places that would have sponsored an H-1B for you (given that you are USMG) would be more helpful.

Good start though, thanks!
