Hello all,

So I'm almost done with finals for fall semester of M1. I am most likely getting an A, B- (Anatomy), and C (Biochem); however, my classes are pass/fail (I was told that we might not be ranked for 1st and 2nd years, but I'm not listening to that rubbish). I was wondering what type of stats I would need in order to be competitive for Emergency Medicine or Anesthesiology residencies. Just need to see where I am at right now. I told my physician mentor my grades, and he said I basically need to be AOA in order to do an Ortho residency so I'm going remove that from the list. Any insight is appreciated. I am also doing the HPSP program if that counts for anything.

isn't hpsp military? I thought ppl going for military residencies choose what they want...

and for regular residencies everyone that matches into ortho is not AOA...they def had good STEP 1 scores though and research

You can apply for what you want, but if you don't get it, the military can put you anywhere they want for a year, then make you do GMO years before you can reapply.

Totally false. No one cares about preclinical grades. Kill Step 1, get great letters on your sub-i/aways, and get some solid research.
