I just got my scores back from step 1 and got a 236/95. My first two years were a mix of As and Bs. I love pathology and I know I will be competitive, but are these competitive enough for the top programs like Mass General?

thanks

236/95 is a good score. I imagine in conjunction with good grades you would have no trouble getting an interview at MGH. Other top programs that are a bit more research heavy you never know. (Brigham, Wash U, Hopkins). I would still anticipate you would get interviews almost anywhere you applied though. Not being on a residency committee though, I can't say for sure.

The top programs are impressed by a stellar academic record as well as other factors, like heavy research history. Good LORs are very helpful. The interview plays a key role, it's not just a meet and greet.

Short answer: You won't know unless you apply.

Hmmm....change the word "definitely" to the phrase, "possibly, if your qualifications are good enough" and hot damn, you're right!

Cash only please. Small bills.

Like I said on another thread, I interviewed at one place where there was another candidate who had an 85 two digit score and they were told that was a very competitive score. And this wasn't podunk U either. I didn't interview at no Podunk U.

Well I went to the pathology department mailboxes with fitty one-dollar bills in my hand. But I couldn't find a mailbox belonging to yaah. Can you put a piece of tape by your name that says, "aka yaah".

Thanks.

Just leave them in the chem lab behind the fluorescent scope. I will find them there!

Starting Monday I will be stationed in the morgue, so show up there and stash them behind the hacked off limbs or something.

Ok .. next time I'll be at U of M hospitals will be next week. I'll try to keep the money away from the steaming piles of poo.
