Hi all,

I have only recently started to look into radiology and have found it much more interesting thus far than a lot of things I have considered.. I was just wondering if anyone could briefly let me know how the post-graduation process goes (i.e. length and content of residency), I haven't found too much specific, I was hoping someone might want to help me out who has been through it or is going through it.

Thanks
Mt

I'm not in Radiology but I know that

After medical school you need:

1 year either Transitional year, General Surg, Internal Medicine

4 Years of Residency

Optional Fellowship which is 1 to 2 years depending on what you do. Most are 1 year.

From what I heard, doing a transitional year is recommended.

Transitional year is recommended more for its ease than anything else. Prelim years of Medicine or Surgery will typically work you. You get some elective time in a transitional year so it is usually much more laid back.

Also, I have had several consultants tell me that there is little you will learn during that one year that will be meaningful for a career in radiology so it isnt worth killing yourself.

You have to do an internship or transitional year before the actual residency. Total five years.
