I have heard that residency can be very demanding and long hours. Is this true for all residencies or is it easier for such categories such as family practice which is mostly clinical based rather than hospital based?

Also... a quick question pertaining to DO residencies and my situation... I have noticed that I want a decent hours/good lifestyle job one day.. but have only done averageish on the comlex 1 exam... what fields should I be looking at? Is PMR or sports medicine even an option with my score and being in the DO field?

Is there anything which would require less patient contact (not rad/path), that I could go into? Such as medicine management right after medical school? Please let me know, thank you!

You're a pre-medical student that has taken the COMLEX?

If you have already done COMLEX I then you should be on rotations currently and the attending you are rotating with whould be answering these questions for you. All residencies are demanding with long hours that's how you learn how to be a doctor. If you are that worried about how much you are going to have to work, then you never should have gone into medicine. Hmm.....

Do FM if you don't want to work long hours. There will be occasional days when you will do long hours. But in a good program where they let you do moonlighting, they'll try to keep your hours at about 30 hrs/week. Don't do unopposed because that means u'll be responsible for more.

How can someone who has taken COMLEX be asking questions this basic? Not calling OP stupid, not by any means, but it seems like someone at this stage should have this **** sorted out.
