as a first year resident, i'm curious what a rural hospital might suggest as a hiring retainer. -or stipend, i'm not quite sure what to call it. any ideas?

Here in Oklahoma, it's $1,000/month. You just agree to go to some underserved area in the state and practice there for as many months as you received the stipend.

Hmmm. At my current monthly income, I get to forbear my loans. But at $1000 more, I'd have to pay, and probably would just break even.

It doens't matter anyway, I interviewed with them and they said, "Keep us in mind in a few years." Thanks for the interview!
