Hi!

I'm posting to ask about any resources there may be for low income applicants. This includes costs for the primary and secondary applications as well as the MCAT and MCAT study materials. After some research I found the fee assistance program through the AAMC. Is there any other resources like this? Additionally, for those who participated in the program, how much did it help? Are there any specific resources for URMs? Thanks!

AAMC fee assistance program helped A TON. Definitely apply and see if you qualify, and use everything provided (there are expiration dates!)

The only other thing I can of off the top of my head is this program called Bridging Admissions run by UCSF students. However, it does seem to be pretty competitive & the deadline has passed for this upcoming cycle.

AAMC assistance is the only thing outside of 3rd party resources that could help offset or cover costs with MCAT prep/take + applications. Only some schools will waive their secondary app cost if you've qualified for the AAMC fee assistance; as such, this is the best resource to pursue + try to qualify for as it covers a lot of bases.

For MCAT prep, there are tons of free resources online (perhaps sketchy, but worthwhile to see what things you can get with a quick Google search). Then of course, you should look at schools that offer generous need-based aid and prioritize those schools > if they offer good packages for this type of URM, they likely highly value having students from that background in their programs (win-win). Best of luck!

Thanks a lot! I'm applying for next years cycle so I'll definitely look into that!
