  1. Resident [Any Field]
Long time lurker and staunch fan, first time poster. I am a PGY3 EM resident just starting my job hunt for a non-academic community position. For those of you who do the hiring for community gigs, which format do you prefer, resume or CV? Thanks in advance!

CV is fine as long as you don't fill it with a bunch of extraneous stuff. I don't care about the 3 lectures you were forced to give your residency or that you volunteered at a health fair when you were a med student. I understand that you are a new grad, I don't expect that much on paper. Just make sure the references you list really know and speak highly of you because I'm going to call them.

Agree. I prefer resumes though. If you're applying for a community job, I'm more interested in your moonlighting experience than your research. Good to see chief resident and committee involvement as it tends to show (not always) that you're more likely to be a team player and able to interface with admin without causing trouble for the group.

I am too, in the applying process. I have both ready and updated for submission. In general, I send out my resume first, and submit my CV per request.

One thing tho, careful with online application process. I submitted my resume, which I thought was a secure portal. The next day, I had three recruiters calling for locus tenens gigs. All three identified the same source and I quickly retracted my resume 🙂
