What would look better on an application? Retail pharmacy as a technician or pharmaceutical research as an assistant?
I worked in a retail pharmacy (CVS/Pharmacy) as a certified pharmacy technician for about 15 months. I left the position my senior year of college to concentrate on academics. I graduated with a BS in Biochemistry in May 2011 letting my CPhT license expire in June 2011 since I now have an undergraduate degree. I worked various laboratory jobs in QA/QC, biotechnology, etc. until I got offered a big position. I have now been working in pharmaceutical research (Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson) for 6 months as a research assistant.
Does this make me more of an attractive prospect to a university compared to someone who is just in CVS/Pharmacy or Target?
I know having a degree makes things better, but I don't know if I should pick up a retail pharmacy position again.
I have only heard back from one school so far and they didn't really answer my question. They said, "When selecting our student body we do take experience in the field into consideration." I asked that what was more attractive.
