retake after app deadline

I'm applying for fall 09--will adcoms consider scores from a dat retake in say march or april (after the app deadline) as long as my apps are in on time. my perio has suggested that i do this, but my thinking is that schools will only look at the dat score that comes in before the application deadline. does anyone know the answer to this?

So the application deadline for UCSF, for example, was October 15th. Are you saying that by October 15th the decisions for all who are going to be accepted were made? So those who interviewed on October 16th, and November 1st, and tomorrow are not even going to be considered? They are just interviewing them for kicks eh?

The OP was asking about a March-April timeline. The critical mass for acceptances is reached, by some, if not most, schools on Dec 1. In the case of UCSF, which has a Oct 1 deadline for application,for the class entering 2008, 7 out of 47 interviewed (class of 80) after Dec 1. For USC, which has a deadline of Feb 1, only 14 out 96 (class of 144) that were accepted interviewed after Dec 1. While the information from www.predents.com may be questionable since the sample is not random, it represents the only available data on admission and any first approximation may or may not be valid.

march/april is a bit late i would say... i think if you try sometime over the winter they might consider it for this cycle..
i think you might have to make the decision between taking it over the winter to increase your chances for this cycle, or really get yourself prepared and take it in the spring for the next cycle..
