I think you are a solid applicant. DAT scores are at or above average accepted scores. GPA might be a bit low, but it's upward-trending. Good shadowing and volunteer hours.

It depends where and how much you want to apply... with your GPA being relatively average, if it were me I would consider retaking for a higher DAT. That would at least make me feel more confident/comfortable in getting interviews.

Average AA of an accepted dental student is now 20, so OP's is technically slightly below average.

OP, what were your RC and QR scores?

@FeralisExtremum
QR - 18
RC - 19

Also would like to add that the last two semesters in undergrad I made a 3.6 and 4.0 respectively taking upper division science courses, if that makes any difference.

I'd consider retaking. A 22+ would immensely help.

Quoted for misinformation. He's not a "solid applicant" by any means.

I've seen people with lower scores get in. Assuming those 150 hours of shadowing and 200 hours of volunteer service were meaningful, those are certainly solid numbers. GPA might be a bit low and AA is 1 point below average

By solid, I mean decent contender. Not stellar, but not severely deficient.
