Hey all! I have a 3.93 cumulative GPA. Applying next semester and my mcat is a 507: 126 chm, 126 cars, 128 Bio, 127 Psych. Colligate athlete, so I have a tough time finding ample time to study. I want to go MD, should I retake my MCAT? I started my own club, and have done limited research but have meaningful clinical experience.

Nah ur ballin, aim for in-state. What schools are you looking at?

U of A PHX, Tucson, Creighton, and the new ASU school are where I really wanna go. But I'll also apply to schools like Colorado or utah. Thinking of some DO's for safety though.

Hello,
If I can add to this. If you want to retake, you need enough time to study. Getting into any med school is extremely competitive, even for the top 1%. Take a look at the schools you want to apply to and go through the stats of their students. If you really need to retake, then you need to find the time to study. After going through your options and you made up your mind not to retake, you can work on the rest of your applications, like more research experiences.

I retook my MCAT after my practice scores were statistically and consistently higher than my previous score, so for you, that would be >509 (double-check this since I took mine about 5 yrs ago at this point). It definitely opened doors for me. However, be very sure before taking this path since it's a considerable risk.

Apply to ~30 schools with a generous amount of low to mid tier schools. Remember that literally EVERYONE that you're competing against has (in theory) an outstanding application, along with some type of hook. I assume that college athletics is your hook. I would work to make that unique somehow.

I would not retake the MCAT. That score is fine. 🙂
