I'm currently a third-year undergrad, I have above 200+ shadowing hours with two leadership positions through the past three years and gpa is 3.88, (all pre-reqs were As except one B in bio). Trying to aim for VCU (number one choice!)

Complete honesty is appreciated because I'm genuinely confused on what to do now!

Hi there—first off, congratulations on such a strong application! Your DAT scores (450 AA, 460 TS, 450 PAT) are well above the new national average, and a 3.88 GPA (with almost all As in your prereqs) is outstanding. Your 200+ shadowing hours and leadership roles also make you a well-rounded and competitive applicant for VCU and beyond.

My honest advice:

  • Apply confidently to VCU and a good mix of schools, you are in a great position!
  • That single B in bio won’t hold you back; schools care about trends and consistency, and you clearly have both.
  • Let your personality shine in your personal statement (don’t let AI or anyone else write it for you, schools really can tell!). Be authentic, and focus on your own experiences and growth.
  • Be sure your letters of recommendation are strong, and double-check all your application materials.

If you need advice on interviews or next steps, feel free to ask happy to help! Wishing you all the best with your applications.

Hope this helps and wishing you the best, Nancy, DAT Destroyer
