Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone have advice on retaking a class. My situation is this. I received have a bachelor degree in 07 and am currently taking extra classes at a State college near home. I got Cs in my general chemistry courses while I was getting my bachelor and was wondering if I should retake Gen Chem at the State college. Since I didn't fail the class, I was wondering if a retake would look really bad. The counselor I talked to said that it would be okay if I explained to the admin that I retook the class b/c I wanted solidify my knowledge in chemistry then it wouldn't be too bad. What do you think? Is it a good idea?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not sure about this... but retaking a course might not altogether make the Cs disappear if that is what you are trying to do. Check out ADA's GPA calculating rules --- they might average the two together.
In that case, yeah... you taking the course would be for extra knowledge

I got a C on one of my semesters. My advisor told me not to worry about it (as long as I keep up my other grades). What I set a goal for was kicking butt on the chem section on the DAT and I scored a 23. Nova noticed that - they told me that although I am not a science major, I still had the capability to study the science if I wanted to.

I had the same situation.

I was advised not to re-take the class unless I received a C- or worse.

Unless you are taking the class to better fortify your knowlege for related course work, I would not bother re-taking the class. If you want to increase your cGPA or sGPA take upper division science (chem) classes to prove that you really did understand the material.

If you simply want to understand the material better because you feel like you learned nothing, then take the class. However, I suggest against this path unless absolutely necessarily.
