I just had a quick question on how long my DAT is valid for. I took my DAT August 2011 and will be doing a one year masters program at MWU IL starting this August 2013. I just now spoke to an admissions counselor at Midwestern to ask if my DAT would still be valid if I applied after the program in the summer of 2014 and she said yes.

However, browsing through their school site it says: Only DAT exam scores earned from tests taken no more than 3 years prior to matriculation are acceptable.

If I'm not mistaken, wouldn't my matriculation year be 2015? So, would my score be valid? or do I have to retake?

Many thanks for all your help! 🙂

Yes, re-take the DAT. It is only valid for 3 years. If you will be starting in 2015 your DAT cannot be older than 2012. My boyfriend applied to 21 dental schools 2 years ago with a 4 year old DAT and every single school sent him a letter saying he needs to re-take the DAT. He applied again last year with new DAT scores and was accepted.
MWU-IL is a newer school so maybe they don't follow the 3 year rule.
Good luck!
