First of all, I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I took the MCAT 3 times. Got a 26, 28, and 28. I know...It sucks. I was wondering if I should retake again with the new MCAT or just apply DO? If so, do I have a chance at DO (Again wrong forum)? I have a 3.78 GPA btw.

You could do DO, especially if you feel that you did the best that you could on the test. The new MCAT not only adds new material, it combines questions from bio/physics/chemistry plus entire sections of soc and psych. If you don't want to waste an entire year or semester studying with minimal materials then try DO. If not, then try DO while working on EC and other intangibles.

It seems like the DO field is getting so much more competitive as well. Do you think I have a chance with a 28 MCAT and a 3.75 if I go out and get a DO rec?

3.75 GPA is pretty good; I agree the MCAT is the issue. If you have some good EC's, shadowing experience with a DO, and a DO letter of rec, you have a chance if you apply early and broadly.

Well I currently am volunteering at 2 hospitals which I will be at for a year when the new cycle starts. I am also working as a math instructor. I also have a whole load of activities from college that range from shadowing to clinical experience to research to trips abroad. I wish I could think of what else I can do in the coming months to strengthen my apps aside from shadowing a DO.

If that's the case, add in some low tier MD. I've seen it happen, and while not extremely common, worth a shot.

Agreed. I strongly suggest you not take the MCAT again. You have taken it 3 times and earned nearly identical scores, it doesn't seem likely that you would score much higher (even if you got like a 32, many schools would average your scores anyway giving you an effective score of ~28).

Your stats are very solid for DO schools and you can certainly sprinkle in some MDs as well if you want.

I don't think a fourth MCAT score is going to help you, even if you score in the 30s. The fact that you retested at the same or similar score four times suggest high validity and accuracy of the results. Take the time you would waste studying for the new MCAT and improve the rest of your application. I would absolutely recommend that you apply to some DO programs, but I wouldn't absolutely rule out a MD program although the sub 30 score will hurt.
