Retake threshold

hi all, posting for a friend.

For a SC resident (3 in state schools with mcat averages around 29-30) what would be the threshold score for a retake with a 3.76 gpa from state school? Well rounded app otherwise.

Applicant is currently only interested in MD (says he would rather take a gap year than try DO this cycle).

With old MCAT scoring, it was generally assumed you want a 30 or above for MD, which translates into a 508.
With instate schools, and a pretty decent GPA, I would say rewrite anything below a 506-508*.

I would likely retake anything below a 509-510 unless there is demonstrable evidence that there would be significant hurdles to be overcome to score higher than that.
