Hi, I'm a second semester freshman. I took pre-calculus this fall and failed it. It's worth 3 credits at my school. I also took 3 other classes with a final total of 15 credits including the pre-calculus. So when I retake my pre-calculus and get an A, will it basically get rid of 3 credits in terms of my gpa for DO schools? If I take 15 credit hours this spring including precalculus i will have 30 credit hours. So in terms of my gpa for DO schools will it be out of 27 credits with the higher grade?

A retake for DO only switches the grade, doesn't add or subtract units.

Those "new" 3 extra credits are basically lost.

Okay, last semester i took 15 credits. This semester i'm taking 15 credits( incl. the re-take). So I will have 30 credits on my transcript by the end of this semester. But in terms of my DO gpa, they will take it out of 27, correct? ( This is considering I get a higher grade on the re-take).
